Erwin is a dedicated lawyer βοΈ with a passion for continuous learning π and development. His academic and professional journey spans several prestigious institutions π and roles. He completed his studies at Utrecht University, excelling in Notarial Law (cum laude) π and Tax Law (with honors). π His thesis, “The Private Express Trust and forced heirship. Private Law and Tax Law Aspects,” earned the FranΓ§ois award π₯ from the Royal Dutch Association for International Law, showcasing his early dedication to legal scholarship.
In his professional journey, Erwin served as a deputy civil-law notary specializing in national and international corporate law π and Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) at Loyens & Loeff N.V. in both Rotterdam and Amsterdam. His career includes roles as counsel and deputy civil-law notary π at HVK Stevens, underwriter M&A insurance at Liberty Global Transaction Solutionsβa division of Liberty Mutual Insurance, and adviser at Schuiteman Corporate Finance.
Since 2022, he has taken on the role of Assistant Professor π§βπ« of corporate law at the Molengraaff Institute π« for Private Law at Utrecht University, where he engages in teaching π and legal research, covering topics such as company law, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, commercial procedures, cross-border corporate mobility, and overseeing bachelorβs and masterβs theses. π
Erwin holds a Ph.D. π in corporate law with a dissertation on the cross-border division of companies with limited liability. Throughout his career, he has authored over 60 publications π, establishing himself as a recognized specialist in European and Dutch corporate law. βοΈ
