Erwin is a dedicated lawyer ⚖️ with a passion for continuous learning 📚 and development. His academic and professional journey spans several prestigious institutions 🏛 and roles. He completed his studies at Utrecht University, excelling in Notarial Law (cum laude) 🎓 and Tax Law (with honors). 🏆 His thesis, “The Private Express Trust and forced heirship. Private Law and Tax Law Aspects,” earned the François award 🥇 from the Royal Dutch Association for International Law, showcasing his early dedication to legal scholarship.
In his professional journey, Erwin served as a deputy civil-law notary specializing in national and international corporate law 🌍 and Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) at Loyens & Loeff N.V. in both Rotterdam and Amsterdam. His career includes roles as counsel and deputy civil-law notary 📝 at HVK Stevens, underwriter M&A insurance at Liberty Global Transaction Solutions—a division of Liberty Mutual Insurance, and adviser at Schuiteman Corporate Finance.
Since 2022, he has taken on the role of Assistant Professor 🧑🏫 of corporate law at the Molengraaff Institute 🏫 for Private Law at Utrecht University, where he engages in teaching 📖 and legal research, covering topics such as company law, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, commercial procedures, cross-border corporate mobility, and overseeing bachelor’s and master’s theses. 📚
Erwin holds a Ph.D. 🎓 in corporate law with a dissertation on the cross-border division of companies with limited liability. Throughout his career, he has authored over 60 publications 📜, establishing himself as a recognized specialist in European and Dutch corporate law. ✍️
